The Employment Relationship
The Employment Relationship comprises of an employment contract between an employer and an employee. Employment contract is an agreement whether oral or in writing, whereby they agree to employ another as an employee and the other agrees to serve his/her employer as an employee. Under the Employment Act 1955 this employment contract is called “contract of service” whereas under Industrial Relations Act 1967 it is known as “contract of employment”.
Under the Employment Act the parties are described as employer and employee respectively whereas under the Industrial Relations Act the parties are described as employer and workmen respectively.
