Planning Permission
Planning issues in relation to land use are determined and governed by
the Town and Country Planning Act 1976. The Act specifically states that
you cannot use your land otherwise than in conformity with local plans.
In other words, you cannot commence on carry out any developments unless
planning permission in respect of the development has been obtained. An
application for planning permission must be made to the local planning
authority. The State Authority is responsible for the planning and the
development and the use of all lands and buildings. Each state will have
a State Planning Committee.
